Infrastructure

One of the most modern roll making plants around.

The technology, the machinery and the people to make any roll in-house.

01

Melt shop & casting

Our melt shop runs an induction furnace, with its own transformer, power control room and pump house. Ladles travel on EOT cranes to the roll and steel casting division, where moulds are prepared in the pits by our own moulders.

  • Ladles under EOT cranes
  • Roll and steel casting division
  • Static, centrifugal and double pour casting

02

Forge shop

A forging plant fully equipped to keep pace with modern mills. Ingots are reheated in our furnaces, carried by manipulator and worked under the hammer. We can produce all kinds of heavy forged steel products, including rolls up to 30″ in diameter and 10 MT finished weight per piece.

  • Forging hammer and manipulator
  • Reheating furnaces
  • Rolls up to 30″ diameter
  • Up to 10 MT finished per piece
  • Rough forged, semi-finished or ready to use

Heat treatment

After hammering or casting, rolls go to our normalising and annealing furnaces. In the annealing and heat treatment division, the furnace is lifted by EOT crane and set down over a full charge of rolls, stacked and numbered for traceability.

  • Normalising and annealing furnaces
  • Double anneal and temper cycles for adamite
  • Charges stacked and identified by number

Machine shop

Our organisation is fully equipped with modern machinery for machining, turning, grooving and making bearing sizes. Row upon row of heavy lathes work under overhead cranes, with vertical lathes and boring machines for the largest pieces.
